Personal Blogs

You know, the Internet didn’t turn out to be what I thought it was going to be. Remember way back when, you would make a post and then get a ton of comments from your regular circle and maybe a few from some random others who wandered by via a search term?  Personal blogs – and by that I mean regular people spewing forth whatever comes to mind – are a thing of the past . And I miss them.

Most of those blogs were lousy, boring or a combination thereof. But some were so interesting as to be hypnotic, some were instructive, intentionally or not, and some were just comfortable, pleasant reads from people you never met but you felt like you knew. The bloggers were a random mix of ages, locations and life experiences. Many had their own buzzwords or frequent topics and they became yours to the extent that just hearing that word in real life was the spark that could create your won sympathetic and linked post to be read, enjoyed or gently debated amongst your circle.  Where are those blogs now?

Without that community, there’s almost no point to a blog like mine. I don’t want to feel alone in the universe so through the magic of Google, I set out to find other personal blogs.

It is to laugh. There’s plenty of links for personal blogs but don’t even waste your time. Here’s what you get:

  •  individuals that run their own businesses
  • DIY blogs
  • food blogs
  • mommy blogs
  • fashion blogs
  • career advice blogs
  • lifestyle blogs
  • and an endless number so how to start your own blog blogs

Looking up my old blogger links is a fruitless exercise. For one reason or another, the links are dead.  I just want somebody who can reach out and share. Somebody who can entertain me about what happened when they went out for gas. Somebody who makes jokes with bad photoshop work. Describe your garden without being a big expert about it. And for God’s sake, don’t try to sell me anything.

I’d be more animated about this but I just microwaved 4 slices of bacon and then I immediately ate them, so I’m feeling pretty good about things in general now and can’t get worked up.

  1. Sigh. Those were the days my friend doot doot doot…not baby shark. Geez. Doot used to be random music following not that song from hades.

  2. Yes! Don’t stop, please. There are some quilting blogs that have that personal touch, but not enough. Don’t leave us, Suzette.

    1. I’m not intentionally stopping. I’m just complaining (act surprised) about the dearth of personal blogs around. I have only 2 that I regularly follow, and one of those I “hate read”. Okay, 3 if you include all Hate Reads.

      1. I hope you never stop sharing your stream of consciousness with us! Your blog is a lovely – and amusing – reminder to fully experience the ups and downs of everyday life. I, for one, appreciate the window into someone else’s day to day. But only because you’re funny. 🤣😳 love, Ethel

  3. I especially miss the “comfortable, pleasant reads from people you never met but you felt like you knew.” I hope I was one of those, too, and I “met” so many wonderful humans that way. Facebook is a poor substitute, but every once in a great while it serves a similar purpose for me.

  4. I think I remember finding you through an Ace of Spades link, and have read your posts for years now. You and Ms. Ledford w/ the flying monkeys are/were bright spots in an otherwise drearier existence. I especially miss the tm World Famous Fashion Icon posts, in spite of the eye bleach needed afterward. I feel like I know you in some small way after all this time (non-stalker-like), from your decorating contretemps in the guest room, travel diaries, through retirement and screening the pool. I would definitely miss you, again not in a stalkerish way, if you quit as well. I could not possibly be entertaining enough to blog, it would consist of bitching about teenagers, about the type of girls going after said teenagers still home, and photos of my four-legged bffs. And maybe achy joints every time it rains. No thanks.

At least everyone figured out the internet has more use than just porn, per the theories in the early 90’s.

    1. It sounds to me as if you have 2 possibly 3 blogs in you. 🙂

I had to give up with the MOO blogging because the very sight of her nauseated me. I sincerly hope she gets out of the news sooner rather than later because I might e compelled to start up again if this Dem Last Hope nominee business doesn’t go away.

  5. Waves – Hi 🙂
I don’t blog anymore and haven’t for years – but I think about you every now and then.
Lost my Gus puppy a few weeks ago 😦

  6. I somehow found you when you were putting out the World Famous Fashion Icon posts, then your posts about your finds on Craigslist. And I was roped in with your gardening posts, including your lovely talavera pots. I in fact purchased a talavera pot and think of you when I’m watering that plant.
