While looking up “Mrs. Butterworth’s”, I came across questions about whether she is white, or black. Apparently, the correct answer is she is neither, but one article declared a DNA test confirmed she is white, and she’s been passing as black for decades.
Considering the politics of Chelsea, I think she’s safe in still using her favorite syrup, even if Mrs. Butterworth is a Trump supporter. Boycotting her would be racial, and I think that wouldn’t appear as good by the evening news hounds.
OMG this is just too funny! I’m loving “Chelsea Cooks”!
The key to Mrs. B’s racial background is her WASPy name. She’s from the Connecticut Butterworths, went to prep school with the Kennedy girls, etc., but she became so upset by her white privilege that she had herself dyed light brown.
